Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Black (4th Generation)

The small and convenient size of the ipod shuffle makes it a convenient device to carry around while working out, both indoors and outdoors. The portability comes in very handy when the user is busy doing any work and would like to enjoy the work with music. But the shuffle seems to be having more disadvantages than advantages. It is by far the first product from apple that receives so much criticism for both, its design and functionality.

Though the good features are very basic, they are worth noticing as the unit is staying in the market due to these. The portability of the unit and its size are the first advantages of the product and the ease of use with respect to listening to songs is fine. It is basically a simple device that is convenient to carry and is easy to transfer music to, like any other music player from apple. The sound quality is also good and that is the most important feature needed from a good music player. The music that is downloaded into the device is sorted automatically into different categories based on different aspects and it is possible to see the name of the artist and the title of the song by using a simple click and hold button. The price of the player is around fifty bucks and that is quite reasonable for someone who wants a basic music player.

The headphones that come in the box with the latest ipod shuffle have the controls that are needed to pause, play or skip a track. This is a major drawback of the device as it was supposed to be highly beneficial for those who needed a music player during workouts. Though the size of the unit pretty much serves this purpose, the controls are what seem to be the biggest problem. The earphones are sensitive to sweat and stop working when it happens. It is common for any person on a workout to sweat and this makes the device useless after a while as the unit can only be controlled using those earphones. It is also not comfortable to control the music using them as the position is not exactly the best one.

Apart from being uncomfortable with respect to the functioning, there is a physical flaw too in the design that does not let the ear buds stay in the ear comfortably. The user does not even have the option of using third party headphones as they do no include the controls. The battery life too is disappointing as it is much lesser than the earlier versions and the unit takes a lot of time to recharge though it does not to the full capacity. The unit is not compatible with stereos or other devices which is again a disadvantage.

The player is surely a let down knowing that it comes from apple, and the earlier versions were much better than the latest one. It would definitely be better if all the issues concerned are addressed effectively before it loses the entire market.

iPod shuffle is jaw-droppingly small and enormously colorful in black, silver, pink, blue, and green. And even more brilliant, the VoiceOver feature tells you what song is playing and who's performing it. It can even tell you the names of your playlists, giving you a new way to navigate your music with the controls located on the earphone cord. Cli[Read More]
